Why I joined Mio

I've mostly worked in small teams. The kind where you wear a lot of hats, build a lot of things, and figure it out as you go. I like that. I like being close to the work, having real responsibility, and moving quickly without too much ceremony.

So when Mio came along, it felt like a good fit. Here's why I said yes.

The founder

I've known Arthaud for over ten years. He's thoughtful and sharp, and one of the kindest people I've worked with. He takes the work seriously, but not himself, which makes a big difference.

The mission

The idea is to make LLMs dramatically more useful, by balancing personalisation with privacy. We let you share your preferences with apps you trust. We also make sure apps don't misbehave with your data. It felt like something worth building. A better Internet, basically.

The work

There's a lot of new ground for me. Trusted execution environments, memory systems, all sorts of interesting puzzles. That's exciting.

We also use AI heavily in our workflows. If a tool helps us move faster or work better, we use it. That mindset's refreshing. We're not precious, we just use what works.

The setup

Right now, it's early, intense, but surprisingly calm. It felt like the right person, the right idea, and the right time.

So I joined.
